Abstract

The healthcare industry has made significant strides in digitizing patient records through the adoption of Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems. However, the process of obtaining and managing patient consent for data sharing often remains rooted in paper-based methods, creating inefficiencies and potential errors. This article proposes an innovative approach to integrate digital consent mechanisms directly into EHR systems, enabling patients to manage their data release preferences electronically. By eliminating manual data entry and article handling, this solution promises to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and patient empowerment while reducing administrative costs. This article explores the technical requirements, potential challenges, and implications of implementing such a system, including security concerns, accessibility issues, and regulatory compliance.
