AN IMPACT OF COVID 19 ON DIETARY HABITS AND LIFESTYLE CHANGES IN OMAN

Abstract

Following the COVID19 in the beginning of 2020, measures have been taken for controlling the spread of virus by all the countries across the globe. In result of the pandemic the lock down was announced everywhere. In connection with this lockdown, the people dietary habits, lifestyle have been changed, and they are emotionally imbalanced during that period. This research aims to explore the impact of COVID19 on the dietary habits and lifestyle changes among the people in Oman. This study used descriptive cross sectional study and collected the data from 133 respondents. The collected data tested reliability and validity by using Amos and PLS software’s and also find them satisfactory. Then suitable statistical tools were applied to find the significant results from SPSS. The result shows that there are significant changes in dietary habits, and their lifestyle. The following are the changes found from the analysis such as, more respondents are eating more nutrient-dense, home-cooked meals and drinking more tea and coffee, many people noticed that their sleeping patterns had altered, that they spent more time on technology and social media, and that they were unable to carry out their usual exercise routines and also the regularity of buying fresh food items decreased. Additionally, it was found that the respondents' feelings of uncertainty about their situation were primarily related to their worries about contracting COVID, caring for their elderly parents, and losing their employment.
