Abstract

Due to globalisation and other internal and external environmental factors, organisations are forced to think about how they perform and try to implement organisational restructuring to readjust themselves, cope with the situation, stay in the market and be competitive. To sustain in the market and be competitive by implementing successful organisational restructuring, the role of organisational leaders is undeniable.
The centre of the paper is to assess the literature on leadership systematically and organisational restructuring to develop concepts on leaders' role in successfully implementing organisational restructuring. In this regard, the concepts are defined, the research findings recognised by different researchers and scholars, appropriate journals and articles on the role of leaders in organisational restructuring, types of leadership style, effects of leadership behaviors, and their relationship with organisational restructuring and performance are considered in order to show the role of organisational leaders is critical in implementing organisational restructuring process successfully.
