Abstract

This study was to find out the effect of various combined training such as aerobic with plyometric training, plyometric with speed training and aerobic with speed training on speed among basketball players in UAE. Just sixty female basketball players between the ages of 12 and 18 who attended different secondary schools in the United Arab Emirates—namely, Gulf Indian School Dubai, Our Own School Dubai, and Cambridge International School Dubai—were chosen as study participants in order to fulfil the study's objectives. Group I (n = 15) underwent aerobic and plyometric training, Group II (n = 15) underwent aerobic and speed training, Group III (n = 15) underwent plyometric and speed training, and Group IV (n = 15) served as the control. Each group consisted of 15 subjects and training was given for three days a week for twelve weeks. Prior after the training period speed was measured by using 50 mts run test. The paired ‘t’ test and Analysis of Covariance (ANCOVA) was applied as statistical tool for the present study. The Scheffé S test was used as post-hoc test at whatever point the ‘F’ - ratio of the adjusted post-test means were discovered to be significant at 0.05 level of significance. Both, aerobic with plyometric training, plyometric with speed training and aerobic with speed training influence on speed when compared with control group. From the results of the study, it was concluded that plyometric with speed training group was better than other training group for improve speed among female basketball players.
